Genealogy Research

The Ingham County Clerk's Office only has death certificates for individuals who died in Ingham County, birth certificates for individuals who were born in Ingham County, and marriage certificates for individuals who applied for marriage in Ingham County.

The County Clerk's Office maintains vital records for the County of Ingham dating back to 1867 for births or deaths and 1837 for marriage records.

The public is welcome to visit the County Clerk's Office located in Mason to review County records to research family histories, or you may submit a request in writing. Please include the parties name(s) and approximate date the death or marriage took place.

There is a $20.00 fee for the first certified copy and an $10.00 fee for each additional copy of the same record.

The only records that are available through our online service are Marriage from 1992 to Present, and Death from 1986 to Present. Records prior to this date are not in our computer system at this time.  You may contact the office at (517) 676-7201 to check for records previous to those dates or to order a certified copy of any marriage or death certificate filed in the Ingham County Clerk's Office.

The service fee schedule below reflects the fee for each transaction amount, whether the credit card is swiped or if the card information is manually entered.
