If you would like to order a birth certificate by fax or email you must pay with a Discover, Visa or MasterCard.
COME DIRECTLY TO THE INGHAM COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE
Our offices are located Ingham County Courthouse, first floor, Mason MI and the Veterans Memorial Courthouse, first floor, Lansing MI. It will take approximately 10 minutes to process your request. Be sure to have your valid picture ID.
If you do not have a valid driver's license or state issued ID card, we would need to see any three (3) of the following items:
marriage or divorce certificate
child's birth records
voter or car registration
health insurance card
land or rental agreement
State or Federal prison photo ID with release or discharge paper (dated within one year)
For persons age 15-20, current student photo ID with either report card or transcript
The cost of a certified birth record is $20.00 for the first copy and $10.00 for each additional copy of the same record each time the record is requested. Cash, Check, Money order (made out to the Ingham County Clerk) and Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
You may print the following form and bring with you:
MAIL, EMAIL OR FAX A WRITTEN REQUEST TO THE INGHAM COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE - APPLICATION
Information required to complete request: include your name, date of birth, mother's maiden name (before marriage), a contact phone number, and a signature.
You must also provide a photo copy of your valid picture identification with your mailed request.
Our mailing address is: PO Box 179, Mason MI 48854. Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return of your birth record. All mail requests are filled and mailed back out within five to seven business days from the date received in the Clerk's office.
Please do not fax or email your request more than once as each request will be processed and we are not able to give refunds.

Please be advised that as of Monday, August 1, 2016, there will be non-refundable service fees applied to all credit card transactions conducted with the Ingham County Clerk’s Office.
As of that date, my office will be able to accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and Debit Cards.
The service fee schedule below reflects the fee for each transaction amount, whether the credit card is swiped or if the card information is manually entered.

$75.01 > $100.00 $3.75
$100.01 > $150.00 $5.75
$150.01 > $200.00 $7.25
(For each additional increment of $50.00, or portion thereof, add $2.00.)
Please know that a service fee will not apply to payments made by check, money order or cash.
